If you have any bread, you can instantly turn it into toasted garlic bread.
Sometimes I do not have the luxury of buying baguettes on a daily basis. They are the best type of bread to toast. But that did not stop me. Instead, I had a few slices of honey wheat bread that I had to use before they went stale. I was not going to eat garlic bread that looked like toast, obviously. That would just ruin the whole experience. Food should look pretty when your eating it.
To beautify the mousey-earred bread, I sliced them up into strips. There’s breadsticks, so why not toasted garlic sticks? I could be on to something here. After I sliced them up, I dipped each side into olive oil. Because it was a fragile bread and could easily crumble afterwards, I sprinkled garlic powder on each side. Rubbing garlic on it would mush it up. I adding a bit more olive oil to my pan, just as a precautionary so the bread wouldn’t burn. Each side should brown until it is to your desired burnt degree. Each side should take 1 – 2 minutes, so don’t leave the stove!
If you make a lot and you can’t eat all of it, you’re in luck. You can leave the bread out, uncovered, and it would last for another day. Why? It is already moistened with the olive oil and could stand room temperature without being covered. It makes for quite a nice breakfast with eggs in the morning, or great for a last minute bruschetta lunch.
