SALADA Original Black Tea

One of the best blends of black tea I’ve had.

FLAVOR: Very smooth and rich flavor. Great on its own, with a bit of sugar and lemon, and especially with honey. The black tea has a blend of orange pekoe that gives a delicate yet tangy taste. Excellent for making sweetened iced tea. Adding a slice of lemon to this tea perfectly compliments the orange pekoe. For hot tea, it is best steeped in not-yet boiling water for about 2 – 3 minutes (more on the 2 side). For iced tea, steep 2 tea bags per gallon of water for 5 minutes or until your desired flavor.

AROMA: Not too pungent, but quite flowery. When I opened the box, a citrus-y aroma hit my nose and was quite comforting. When steeping, the tea fills the air around it. As it cools, the aroma dilutes a bit but does not entirely go away.

PACKAGING: Unfortunately, the packaging of the tea could be better. Salada black tea is sold in 20, 48, and 100 count boxes with loose tea bags. Because each tea bag is not individually packaged, the tea looses its freshness quicker than individualized tea bags. It seems strange, I know…isn’t tea dried anyway? Yes it is, but just like spices, tea has an expiration date and should be kept in a sealed container. I suggest immediately putting the loose tea bags in a container, and plan to use it on a regular basis.

CONCLUSION

PROS: Great flavor, rich aroma, can be used with sugar, lemon, and honey

CONS: Packaging requires regular use and separate container for optimal freshness.
